On the Boards: BOFFO Michael Bastian Proposal

Swis.Loc recently submitted our entry for this year’s BOFFO Building Fashion competition and we’re happy to share the results!  The competition pairs architects with emerging fashion designers to create a temporary retail space that represents the brand’s first translation into an architectural space.

This year’s competition features CFDA-winning designer, Michael Bastian.  Proposals must utilize two repurposed 40ft shipping containers that have been joined together to create a single 16ft by 40ft interior space.  The containers will be located in the head-house of Pier 57 on the Hudson River near Manhattan’s Meatpacking District for the month of November.

Our proposal focused on his inspirations for this season, including the Maine landscape, Andrew Wyeth’s paintings, and a vision of gothic New England.  For the full description and more images of the project, check out the BOFFO Michael Bastian project page.
