Collector’s Library

Built on the footprint of a pre-existing barn, this ground-up 3,500 square foot building takes formal cues from barn structures and provides a repository for the owner’s collection of exhibition catalogs and artist monographs on its upper level.  The lower level, true to its formal roots, accommodates a tractor and workshop, along with a sitting area, changing rooms and a kitchenette for the nearby pool.  Simple elevations and muted cedar and zinc exterior finishes speak to the building’s precedent and its ancillary role on the property.  Interior finishes consist of locally-sourced ash, rough, plaster walls and douglas fir shelving.
