The renovation of this historic estate in northwest Connecticut required extensive remediation of the existing structure as well as the insertion of new elements, such as an office within the west end portico and a breakfast room opening onto a potager at the rear of the house. Details are historically informed yet clean and contemporary. Material were selected to convey a rustic, natural feel. The master plan of the property, including an existing guest house and caretaker’s house in addition to a new private gallery, library, and pool, accommodates the installation of on-site sculpture and preserves views of the Berkshire Mountains.
