East End Avenue Apartment
Located along quiet East End Avenue on Manhattan’s Upper East Side, the design reconfigured an existing two-bedroom and studio apartment into a three bedroom apartment for a young family. The challenge was to maximize a flexible living and dining space for large family gatherings while retaining discrete personal spaces.
Our solution created a clean and highly efficient new layout, using a thick wall with deep, paneled openings that lend a sense of separation and transition between the living spaces and the Vestibule, Kitchen, and Master Suite. Finishes help to resolve the apartment’s dichotomy—part traditional with a compartmentalized layout and gracious entry vestibule, part contemporary with large, open living spaces—by taking on a classic, yet minimal style.
